Given how important it is to have a cohesive team, you need to learn how PA candidates deal with personal conflicts. So ask about past differences that they may have had with a colleague and, in particular, listen to how effectively those conflicts were resolved. Ideally, you want to find a PA who is capable of putting personal disagreements aside for the betterment of the team.

What Would You Do in the Event of X?

Patient care requires you to think on your feet. So if you want to test the ability of candidates to improvise and stay focused under pressure, then give them a hypothetical scenario that they might encounter while working for your practice. If a candidate is able to calmly work through a given problem in the interview, then there is a higher chance that they’ll be able to work through high-stress problems when they crop up on the job.
